Volume Is Your Bestfriend
***Dieting Tip - Volume Is Your Bestfriend***
.
First and foremost, when you’re dieting with the intention of dropping body fat and leaning out, you are going to get hungry, better we get that out the way now and even better that you accept that reality. It’s not meant to be a walk in the park where we all feel amazing and love the process, if it was everyone wouldn’t have an issue sticking to it.
.
That said, you can be smart about the process and minimise this as much as possible to help with compliancy.
.
When building a meal my go to strategy when on low calories is start with the bulk volume of the meal, the low calorie foods in most cases this is your vegetables, some fruits, and make a sizeable portion here... then add 50% more. You’re better off missing out on 25-50g of Rice if it means doubling the physical size of the whole meal.
.
Secondly add your protein source to make sure you hit your daily requirement. Now you may need to tweak things by a few grams here and there to make everything fit nicely that’s normal.
.
Thirdly fill in the rest with your carbs and fats (or “fun” stuff) and complete your meal that way. Now you’ve got a decent sized meal that will help with satiety and staying on track.
.
It’s all good and well to put a little treat in each day but when calories get real low, what if that little treat was a smart low cal meal that would keep you fuller for longer. One mistake people make is they follow the process above in reverse, they get all excited about their carbs and put in their favourite ones there, then protein, dribble in a tiny bit of veggies and now you’re left with a little snack.
.
Note: this is just one method everyone is different and different methods work well for each individual. But I believe staying fuller for longer and having physically larger meals really helps!
