
So I did a recent little experiment myself and for Lunch (approx midday) I had 100g Pasta, 165g Mince, Pasta Sauce and Some Veggies. This totalled 85g of Carbs, 10g Fat, 50g Protein and 630 Calories….Now I took that exact same meal and had it at 8:00pm and guess what it still totalled 85g of Carbs, 10g Fat, 50g Protein and 630 Calories. There was absolutely no difference.
I’m a massive fan of throwing the myth of carbs before bed is bad in the bin and am a massive advocate for loading them in then. Reason being those carbs can help boost two brain chemicals involved in sleep, tryptophan and serotonin.
In a simpler explanation for you, I’m sure you’ve all had a massive bowl of pasta, maybe big dessert, had a feast at lunch and felt like you needed a nap? Apply that same principle (in accordance with your daily macros) at night and enjoy the deep carb coma sleep!
